Title: I am having terrible trouble...
Post by: ianp2312 on Dec 27, 2014, 18:56:48
...getting some websites to load on my computer using Internet Explorer, and also Google Chrome. The problem appears (to me) to be when I try load a page that has lots of moving pictures or sound on it, like the BBC News website, the iplayer (including the radio player) and the Sky Sport website. Is there any obvious reason for this, or even better, an obvious solution? Thanks.

Hi Ian,

I think the first thing I would try is reboots of router and computer.  After that, I guess you might be looking into your router, checking the sync speed, throughput, etc, and then it may be a case of changing DNS to see if that helps, but hopefully the initial restarts will sort things out.

Could be a throughput issue , suggest do as Simon suggested and also some BT Speedtests, try and compare WiFi and cable (Ethernet) speeds if possible

I'd also ensure that your PC is virus free and that you are not running any unwanted browser plugins and toolbars.

Maybe you're needing to update Flash Player

Flash player should auto update on its own though these days.  :dunno:

Only if you allow it to.

Mine is set to tell me when an update is available but not to install until I give it the OK.

There's also an option to never automatically check for updates.
