Title: Moto G email settings
Post by: krysia on Nov 24, 2015, 15:47:09
I've had a 1st generation Moto G for about 18 months and set up my IDNet email account in the phone's email app.  I had no problem receiving or sending mail until last month, when suddenly I could send mail only when using my IDNet connection at home. I've played around with the SMTP settings, changing the ports and the security (but keeping secure password authorisation ticked), but have had no success.  Does anyone with a Moto G have SMTP settings that allow you to send mail when you're out and about using non-IDNet wifi connections?

In the meantime, I'm glad to see IDNet webmail is now fully functional on the phone!

I never use the phone's native email client, but k9mail instead.

Possibly, but looking at the native client on my Moto G it appears to have TLS support. You might need to select STARTTLS rather than SSL/TLS though...

I accidentally posted this thank you in the other thread:

Many thanks for pointing me in the direction of that other thread - that explains what the problem is.  We use our own domain name for email but it all gets forwarded to our IDNet accounts.
