Not sure if I should have posted here or in the computer discussion area, but here goes.
Basically, I want to set up a Nintendo Wii using a Vista laptop instead of a TV and I can't seem to find the right adaptor to do the job. I found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/2179900-Adaptec-GameBridge-AVC-1400/dp/B000DLBAFU (http://www.amazon.co.uk/2179900-Adaptec-GameBridge-AVC-1400/dp/B000DLBAFU), but where I can find any info about it, the Wii isn't mentioned as a compatible console and some say it doesn't work with Vista. Although it's a capture device, it's the nearest thing I could find for what I'm after.
So, does anybody have any experience of the Adaptec or any other adaptor that will do the job? All input gratefully welcome, even if it's speculative.
In case you're wondering, it's for a first year student in halls of residence who doesn't watch TV enough to warrant a TV license (she's too busy gaming, watching anime and reading manga).
Thanks in advance.
There's a review, here (http://reviews.cnet.com/peripherals/adaptec-gamebridgetv-avc-1410/4505-3132_7-31653718.html), Drummer, which suggests it ought to do the job.
Thanks for that Rik. For a tenner, I reckon it's worth taking a chance on.
That's certainly my feeling. Compared to the Wii cost in particular. :)
Pardon me if this turns out to measure my ignorance rather than to help....
If the gamebridge is a TV tuner, doesn't it turn the laptop into a TV and therefore require a licence?
I accept it's fairly easy to hide from the Feds and she'd have a case anyway if there's no aerial plugged in etc., but still....
No, in a word. :) It needs a tuner plugged into it, it's more a converter of signals - at least that's how I read the description.
