Title: Connection speed has dropped
Post by: Barndog on Mar 31, 2008, 09:11:34
Hi folks, been ofline for a while due to pc problems but got online 2 weeks or so ago, only to find that im connected at  5.8 compared to my usual 6.4 before, also my profile is 5000 whereas it was 5500, nothing has changed at my end, anyone know why this would be, this is my test form bt speedtester....

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 5000 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  5888 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4416 kbps

Profile is correct for sync speed, throughput is a little low for profile. Can you give me attenuation and noise margin figures from your router, and do you know how they compare to your previous figures?

Sync is related to the line, rather than the ISP, so this won't have anything to do with IDNet.

ADSL is very susceptable to noise, and it's possible that something's change (even if you don't know it). Another possibility is that you sync'd at night, when noise is higher, and a re-sync during the day will cause your sync to return to its "normal" level. :)
