This simple registry change puts the menu bar in IE7 on top - the place it should be.
The registry tweak will add the following key to your registry
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser]
"ITBar7Position"=dword:00000001
Instructions:

Close Internet Explorer 7
To install, simply double-click the ie7-menubartop.reg file or right-click on it and select "Merge"
Open Internet Explorer 7 - the menu bar should be on top.
Uninstall:

Remove the above registry key (ITBar7Position)
or simply double-click the Uninstall.reg file provided.

Useful file, just what we need to deal with MS making unnecessary and illogical changes. Thanks for posting. (I'm dreading Vista and the "do as Bill says" culture that appears to come with it...)

Exactly what I plan to do, I'm just persuading my wife I need to buy another machine before Xmas to make sure I can do so. When they get to SP1, I might consider Vista, but even then I am not convinced I want an OS that seeks to control my every action. Maybe I'll move to Macs. :)
I read somewhere SP3 will be out soon, i don't know the date.
I read Q2 next year, but then I read Vista was coming out last year. :)

I'll second that. I'm tempted to buy in a spare copy of XP so that I can stick with it if I buy new hardware after Vista is released.
No need to do that. Unless your current version is an OEM version, you're OK to move your current XP licence to your new hardware, provided you destroy the copy on the old hardware (reformat the disk).
That's the case with XP. With Vista (retail version), you'll only be able to move it once and that's it.
Unfortunately, my current copies are all OEM. :(
Not a problem just install it on the new rig and then when you get the prompt Phone MS tell them your motherboard broke and you have installed a new one in the SAME PC but Windows will not install, they will give you the code , i have oem xp home and have done this ;)
To be honest i think they are more worried about the rip off versions than the paid for ones we have, they know its a proper copy as you have to read the number to them before they will give you the code.
Thanks. I had heard that MS were getting tighter on the 'only to be used on the original hardware' line, but I guess that may be down to who you talk to and how you ask...
The guy i spoke to was really helpful i just made out i hadn't a clue what was going on and he did the bizz for me , sweet!
It's often how you talk to them, treat them s equals and they'll do a lot more for you. Too many people, from the rants I have heard, get annoyed with the people at the end of the phone. Whilst I confess I sometimes have to bite my tongue, when phoning Sky for example, be human to them and they'll be human back in my experience. Playing dumb often gets you more help and information than telling them how to do their job.
