Title: Recent Slowness
Post by: jongeeone on May 27, 2008, 21:26:20
Hi, currently have had no issues with IDNet since i switched from VM over a year ago.

However, this past week i have seen websites taking ages to load. Living in BA3 - anything being done in this area?

Any help appreciated :)

Thanks

There are certainly no problems in terms of IDNet's network, which leaves either your setup, exchange congestion, or some other factor. We'll need a couple of bits of information from you in order to find where the problem lies.

Could you post your router stats? If you're not sure how to get these, have a look here (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm).

Also, please complete a BT speed test (http://www.speedtester.bt.com[/url) and post the results (warning: persistence is often required, and it may throw up arbitrary and incorrect errors - just keep trying!). :)

I'm having the same problems today. Sites take a long time to open, or don't open at all. A refresh or re-click usually solves the problem.

Problems today between 5pm and 7pm, and then just started again now (11:30pm). Same thing happened a few days ago, and similar problems a couple of weeks back too.

This isn't a speed issue, as throughput is unaffected.

Incredibly frustrating, but I've given up worrying about it as nobody knows for certain whether it's BT maintenance, BT upgrading, exchange congestion, ISP or ghosts.

One of these days the internet will "just work", but I'm not holding my breath!

See this thread (http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=8403.0). It might be IDNet's DNS', so give OpenDNS a try. Please continue the discussion in that thread, just in case the issue of the OP in this thread is something else. :)
