Oh good, I've still got time to hide. :)
Its actually a good update, hardware acceleration so depending on what card you have, the GPU does more work than the CPU with Flash Player.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

Ah, wait for the driver issues to surface. ;D

Windows update KB978542 security update for Win7 64 bit out today.

For anyone running Windows Mail this update broke the application. To repair you need to replace the file MSOE.DLL residing in Programs files(X86) Windows Mail for 32bit & Programs (X64) Windows Mail for 64 bit.

Ray

It also broke the Security Centre on my Win 7, it was insisting my Firewall/AV weren't running when they were.  :shake: cured by a second reboot though.

For anyone with a DGND3300 dual band router new firmware is available DGND3300v2 Firmware Version 2.1.00.41NA & WW it adds a few features see list below. Oddly my throughput has gone up since the update even though no mention of adsl driver tweaks were mentioned.

   * Added a Traffic Meter which allows Internet traffic volume to be tracked and Monthly Limits set. See the Traffic Meter page under the Advanced menu to configure this feature.
   * Added support for NETGEAR Live Parental Controls, powered by OpenDNS, a router-based Web filtering solution which blocks up to 50 categories of Internet content, free of charge to NETGEAR customers. More details including setup information can be found at: http://www.netgear.com/lpc
   * The Reference Manual has been updated and can be accessed by clicking on the Documentation link in the router management interface.
   * The Samba-based USB driver was updated to improve performance.
   * Fixed an issue where login credentials were required for FTP access to the USB storage device from the Internet even when read access was set to "All-no password".
   * USB events now show up in the logs.

I have just updated mine and now my upload speed has dropped from 0.36 a few minutes ago to 0.24. I am now going to try a shutdown and restart to see if that corrects it, otherwise I will flash back to the original version.

Colin

UPDATE
After a router shutdown and reboot my upload speed dropped even further to 0.22. So I reset my MTU to 1500, that I always used for several years and my speeds are now back to normal. I only changed to a MTU setting of 1458 a few months ago (probably when I changed to this router from a D834Gv4, when I had a similar problem and now the reverse works, very strange.

Hi Colin, always had my MTU at 1500, at 1458 my line was all over the place, 1500 is what works best for me and has since I have been with Idnet, with zero packet loss.rebooted my router straight after and my throughput is 6638 over wifi using 5ghz, it had been around 6200.
