in the process of getting computer back to how it was before the bit bother I had and forgot how much stuff I must have installed before.Lots of it is not getting back on but the one taking the longest is all the windies updates and I wondered is there a way of saving these updates for future use,say if you need to re install again,or can you put them on a disc once you have downloaded them from M/Soft to save going through it all again next time

pctech

I had exactly the same problem.

Rik

It's real pain if you do it online repeatedly, isn't it.

so in theory could you check by the windows update site, make a note of what you need then download from that site mentioned and keep them.could you also find which ones you already have on your computer and get them the same way

slightly off topic a bit but those who use NOD32 anti virus how do you have it set up for checking.at the moment after re installing it the default settings check on start up    Operating memory, boot sectors, files, email files, archives, self extracting archives, runtime packers and the email section is set for the same except boot sectors.

Is there any need to have every thing selected

Rik

I tend to leave the default settings, Baz, on a 'better safe than sorry' basis.
