KIS or not KIS

Has anyone any views on Kaspersky Internet Security? In respect of the current political situation?

I have used KIS for several years on multiple PC's/Laptops and have always been happy, but am now having second thoughts with view to the current political situation surrounding Russia. Am I paranoid?

The thing is, that most of the "better"/"cheaper" security options are all from EX Communist Countries.

I like KIS, Bitdefender both are fast, don't interfere too much, but one is Russian, the Other Romanian.

My next best would be Avira, German, but very expensive.

Symantec always had a reputation as a resource hog. As did McCafee.

Not sure which way to turn now. Any thoughts anybody?

I've been using F-Secure for many years and have rarely had any issues with it.  The only thing that doesn't seem to work too well is Parental Control, as it relies heavily on Windows Accounts settings, but if that's not an issue, you can get a free 30 day trial.

Personally, I wouldn't really give a second thought to the Russian issue with Kaspersky.  Even if there was something iffy about it, they're hardly going to target the average home user.

I've been using KIS for several years without too many issues other than it can be overprotective.  For example if the database hasn't been updated during the past few hours it won't let me visit my bank site.

Я использую KIS в течение нескольких лет, не слишком много вопросов, кроме того, что это может быть чрезмерно защитным. Например, если база данных не обновлялась в течение последних нескольких часов, я не разрешаю посещать мой сайт банка.

I would go to a reputable test site such as https://www.av-comparatives.org/ before using any anti-virus product. I'd also check periodically that your choice of product is still doing a good job because what works well today may well have problems later on.

At the moment I'm using Windows Defender because it's been consistently highly rated by most of the test sites.

I agree about it being over protective.

I ended up turning Safe Money off after I had several transactions fail with various websites.

I've already got a new license for when mine expires in December, so i'll probably stick with it for the time being. It works fine for me on my W7 desktop. Think my concerns were more around the stories of digital esponage involving the country of its business origin  :-\

There was an article about that issue in an edition of Computer Active magazine some months ago and the conclusion was that there is nothing to worry about.
