Where do I find the router log for the DG834G V4?

There is a log page for the router, but this is under the content filtering section and only seems to log blocked packets etc. What I'm after is something like a system log (ie, disconnections, connections etc etc)

edit: corrected router model as my sausage fingers hit the wrong keys

Hi Punch, I have the DG834PN and guess it may be the same

its in the Maintenance section then in Router Status right at the bottom of that page is Show Statistics

I don't think there is a log such as you describe.  I can't find it anyway.  On the 2wire there was a log that said loss of ppp, lcp up etc etc.  Can't see that in the netgear though so can't tell what's going on from day to day.

If anyone knows different and knows where it is, please let us know.

Simon

I'm pretty sure there is a detailed log, in the Security section, perhaps?  I only set one up the other day, but for someone else, so I didn't bother to look.

Think I've found them. Looks like you have to set the router to email the log to you automatically.

Yes, it is there.  You don't have to have it sent by email.  It's under content filtering, logs.  You can choose what it logs.  Router operation is the thing to choose.  For some reason mine was turned off.  Back on now.    :)

Thanks Ann. Is it supposed to appear in the window on that page?

Mine does but I've got a v2 and I see you've got a v4 although I doubt that makes a difference.  I have noticed though that once it sends an email, it seems to delete everything and starts again.

The only thing I can think that is different that would potentially be a factor is the chipset.

I've not been able to get it to send an email to me yet, despite inputting all my smtp server details etc etc. So I gave up.
