2700 Power Adaptors

Don't know if anyone is interested but I've just seen this on eBay:

These *appear* to be the genuine article as supplied by 2-Wire. Given that power adaptors seem to be the achilles heel of the 2700, it may be worth a punt for some of you to keep one as a spare. Buyer beware etc, but at £8 or so you wouldn't be risking a fortune.....

Just a warning ...

The 2700 uses a 5V supply and the 2701 is 12V but the input connectors are identical.

The first might be - depending on connector diameters, both outer and pin and how well regulated the output is.

The second, who knows? Is it AC or DC out? It does not say.

Hmm, good question on the 2nd one. As for the first, I guess if the connector doesn't fit, you could cut the one off a failed power supply and solder it onto this one. At least it might be an alternative if the stocks of them on eBay run dry.

Thanks for the heads up. Interestingly if you do a search there seem to be plenty of suppliers of the 5v adaptors but nobody (that I could find) supplies the 12V version, either 2-Wire branded or an alternative.

Whether the 12v adaptors are more reliable I have no idea.

Forgot to mention that both of my spare 2-Wires are in fact 2701s - both came sealed in the original celophane - and both have 5v power supplies as does the 2701 that is currently in use. It may be the change came around 2010 since going by the serial numbers they were all manufactured in 2008/9

As far as I know the first 2701s were made in mid 2010 and not earlier. When you say they are 2701s are you referring to the Hardware part number shown on: http://home/xslt?PAGE=C_0_0 ? What is te full text on those pages? My 2700s have a Hardware version: 2701-100589-005

The 12volt V3 2700HGV-C does not have the big button at the bottom of the LED bank, if your router has the big button then it is a 5volt supply

Might be I've incorrectly worked out the dates. My current one has the same hardware version as yours - 2701-100589-005 - and without digging out the two spares, from memory they have the same number. Certainly I checked the box contents prior to ordering the spare 5V adaptor off eBay, and both contained 5V power supplies, as does the current one which is in use.

@Alan - Yes they all have the big button at front bottom.

Those are 2700s ... the 2701 which does NOT have the button has a Hardware version 2701-100630-009

Yes, it may say 2701 in te version but that is NOT the model number. I have both here and can see that the 2701-100589-005 is a 2700

Have a look on page: http://home/xslt?PAGE=C_0_0 it should give the top line as: Model: BT2700HGV or for the later 2701HGV-C

Looked at that page in the past without realising the difference. Since I mainly look at the stats page it's probably why I never realised - either that or old age is creeping up on me.....
