I think the point is that due to the design of the operating system, they cannot cause as much damage. I do run antivirus software on the webservers (though admittedly that's also to prevent it passing on Windows viruses) but at the moment because there are so few viruses for Linux in the wild it isn't worth running one on my desktop computers. I'm just careful not to let Colin have my root password :P

That's like saying it's not worth practicing safe sex because very few of the people you know have HIV.

Ok, perhaps i should qualify that a bit.
I do in fact wear a Linux flavored condom ;D, which has kept me protected from viruses of all kinds for quite a number of years.
I take the basic precautions that any internet user should take.
I'm not complacent, i'm aware but not paranoid.
I have a happy "experience "on the web ;D
I am in no way "bashing windows". If i need to use it i will, and do. TBH, it isn't very much.
"IF" i find that i need to take extra precautions, rest assured that is what i will do.

Personally I don't care what operating systems people use. I myself would use Linux, but I can't be bothered with the hassle of setting it up on a partition. I would do a full install, but I've got software that came with the laptop that I like to use, and my main PC is for gaming & photoshop, so I really can't be bothered to change that.

The one thing that does irritate me is the people that blatently don't give a cr*p about security because they're running Linux. It's because of people like that, that a virus spreads so rapidly through the internet now. If all Linux users had that attitude, then it wouldn't be long until they sufferred greatly from their own arrogance.

What you can be bothered about is neither here nor there. Oh, by the way, you can run Photoshop in Linux if you should so desire.
I care a lot about security, that's why i run Linux.
"Linux users make viruses spread rapidly through the internet"! eh, what?
Hasn't happened yet, don't hold your breath.
