One chance to get it right?

I should be getting a new Laptop in the next couple of days. Before I attempt to patch into my router (which will probably see me back here

) I will need to install, firewall, AV and any other "keep out the nasties" I can find.

Currently have AVG Free, Zonealarm Pro and Norton System works 2004 on the desktop. I assume ZAPro and Norton SW can only be installed on one machine.

I would feel happier with a good easy to set up AV proggy to complement AVG.

All suggestions would greatfully received. As I have said, I have one chance to get it right

When I build a system or anyone asks I always suggest Bitdefender, it has firewall, av and ant-spyware £35 ish for 2 years subscription from amazon.

I swear by Zonealarm and Kaspersky

I have had them on this machine for nearly three years now and touch wood

Have ZA and Nortons on both my laptop and main 'puter (same disc) tho. I ,must admit a minor change of email address on each machine. Both update regularly with no probs. Unethical, well .. yes and no, I did pay for the progs after all and haven't passed them on to friends etc.

Sobranie, the only gripe I have with norton is it takes over, certain things you need to do it wants to take control, ZA is great, until you want to run a server, then it argues with everything.

fwiw I have disabled norton in msconfig and use avg instead in the main 'puter.
'er indoors has the lap top where she is attempting to d/l every jpeg on the net (successfully too

I`ve been using this for years. Trend based virus scanner, has a built in spyware flusher too but I much prefer this for spyware

Keeping OS patched is a must too as many virus and anti-spyware programs build their scanning around the latest patches
