Hi all,

Recently, well, since ive been using my routers UpNp (xbox live) - its been behaving very strangely - by this i mean its been turning itself on/off repeatidly, loosing sync alot more times that usual and basically being a general pain.

So, i was woundering if anyone knows of any WIRED routers, known for holding a "poor line's" sync, and that wont go nuts when i try UpNp or my xbox?!

Thanks

I can recommend a Voyager 205 as a very stable router. Mine's quite old now (maybe 3 years) but it's still going strong. Despite being originally designed for 2 meg packages it comfortably chews its way through my 8 meg connection no probs. I believe that you can get them off eBay dirt cheap these days. The best thing about them is that they are highly configurable - via telnet or just the config UI (there are a bunch of secret menus too).

There's a wicked 205 resource and mini community here -> http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/bt.voyager.205_router.how-to.php.

A possible downside is that it only has a 1 ethernet and 1 USB socket so I don't know if it'll be any good for xbox and pc combo (don't know what xbox uses).

Speedtouch was recommended to me to give stability on a flaky line.  I got the 585 V6 which is wireless, but I use it wired via ethernet, and it certainly does the job. Holds its sync and seems to maintain the SNR more stable than the Netgear I had before.

I got the recommendation off AG by asking there, but some people on IDNet have the same one and seem to support my findings.
