Greetings one and all,

Not only am i new to Idnet, but to the wonderful (hopfully  ;) ) world of broadband.

most my time on line at the moment is based around my xbox360 which is greet, but i was wondering a few things ?

Are the any tweeks or any thing i can do to help my xbox connection ? i am using a speedtouch 546(i) v6 modem supplied by idnet and my connection seems to be a bit laggy somtimes while im playing CoD3.

i had a little look in the set up of the said modem and changed the settings slightly using the predone option to say that i was running an xbox onto xbox live from that port, now i carnt say for sure but the lag issue seems to have possibly started then, i say possibly as i was getting some (not as bad) problems while my connection was still in the ten day learning period, at the end of the ten days i had an exchange fault that took my connection down for two days.

When i do a speed test on my connection i get varying results, from sub 2, to 7 mb, could this exchange outage have reset my line learning ?

please dont worry if you are confused reading this post, as i assure you i was more confused writing it

if you have any thoughts or ideas on what might be my problem ( with my line not my head please :P) or need more info to get an idea of whats up or not with the connection please ask, but rember to make the questions simple  ;)

Many thanks

xbox live tag is 'count duckulla' if any other 360 gamers want to play a few games of CoD3

Hi,

Firstly, ive added you to my freinds list :)

Secondly - Cod 3 is usually laggy, its had problems for a while. Best thing you can do is to "shop" around for a good server. Look for one with all stars lit up :)

Does your speedtouch support UpNp? If that isnt already on - put it on. It sorted no end of problems with me!

I echo AvengerUK in that CoD3 is a bit laggy.

Have you tried any other games like PGR3? That rarely has problems as the netcode is spot on, so that would highlight any issues you may have with your own gear.

hi guys,

bit slow replying but me and my misses have just had a little baby girl  ;D ;D as you might guess this has taken me away from my pc a whole lot.

i havent got to many games to play online at the moment, apart from CoD3 i have battlefield moden combat, i have been thinking about bying PGR on a preowned copy as its ment to be real slick racing game.

im not sure if my modem supports UpNp, or for that matter exactly what it is , but i will have a look and see.

i'll give that a whirl and see what happens and report back if things have improved.

thanks again guys, see you on xbox live some time i hope.
