Thanks Glenn
Can't see any mention of changing the IP Address from 192.168.1.254 to something else !!

So using DHCP I can set 'static' them via the router !!

MisterW

If you check the 'configure manually' in the 'Private Network' section of the Advaned LAn settings page, it should allow you to set router addess and DHCP pool etc. At bottom right of page ( assuming its similar to V5 ) there is a device list and an 'Address Allocation' button.

EvilPC

Thanks.. That does allow me to change the routers IP Address :)

I've set the DHCP Pool to 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.250 (255.255.255.0)
Yet under the Private Address Allocation, I can only select 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.127

Any ideas why ??

Not quite sure why that is!, mine has the correct list of addresses but then again my DHCP pool is only 64-127. Maybe it needs a reboot to fully recognise that the DHCP pool has been changed...

EvilPC

Thanks.. I'll try that in a little while !

On V6 you configure IP address allocations at http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_2_3.

Select Manual and you can set the router address and the DHCP pool limits

Thanks. IP Address changed, but still seeing a reduced number of IP addresses in the pool.

Help :(

What is your subnet mask ?

There is a bug in the V6 firmware that fails to list devices properly when Openzone is disabled. I always enable Openzone, make any changes to devices  and then disable it again afterwards.

Subnet is 255.255.255.0

So get all the devices on the LAN connected via DHCP, enable openzone, set their address in the address allocation (Private Fixed) then disable openzone ??

Is that it ?

Thanks :)

That works for me, hopefully the bug will be cured with the next update.

Hi..

Up and running on the new router.
Enabling OpenZone didn't help with the DHCP Pool, but this is meant to be a known issue that will hopefully be fixed in the next firmware release.

I now have some devices on static and some on DHCP.. and they seem to be working OK !!

I've enabled MAC Filtering and WPA, disabled Openzone and Fuzion.. anything I've missed ??

Thanks :)

Rik

No, though I wouldn't bother with MAC filtering myself.

Why ??  Thought it would help stop local's jumping on my wireless.

Rik

It's easy to spoof a MAC, a good strong WPA encryption should be enough.

True.. my WPA key is random..
At least it's working..

Curious to see if my wireless disconnect issues now stop !!

My brothers router is running 107.12, is it possible to force an upgrade, or is there a v5 version that has parental controls?

You can have access controls with 107.12, see the guide on how to do it at TRIPOD, I have used it on a number of these routers

Cheers Alan, I've let him know.

How long does it normally take a 5.29.117.6 firmware router to upgrade to v6 after being hooked up? There is the option to manually force an update check, but it just says I already have the latest.

I'm impressed with the increased downstream sync speed these 2wire routers are achieving over the Netgear DG834N (Broadcom chipset).

v5.29.117.6 upgrades cannot be forced and may not happen at all.

We recommend people to remain on V5 firmwares to avoid some bugs with the current V6.

I managed to get hold of an unopened 2-wire with manufacture date 48-2007 and v5.29.117.6 firmware, I plugged it in and set it up last night and to my surprise the firmware updated overnight so I now have v6.

I'm impressed with the sync speed which is double what it was but still way down on what it should be, I think I'll leave well alone and see what it looks like in a few days.
