I don't really play games on my PC but this mahjongg one has (in my opinion) quite good graphics and there are other games within the same download too such as a tetris type game.

Official site : http://cynagames.com/

Cnet site with some reviews : http://www.download.com/Kyodai-Mahjongg-2006/3000-2111_4-10488892.html

It plays well without having to register but you do get the occaisional pop up window reminding you to register. I've not bothered as it's only a minor irritation and one of the reviewers on the Cnet site warns against doing so anyway.

I have had an earlier version for a long time but the latest version is better (I downloaded the smaller version which has less music).

Don't mention that game to me. My hubby is addicted to it.

Hi Baz,

A brief summary of the games are as follows :

There a 8 different games to choose from and I'm not sure how you play them all but I presume there are instructions available under one of the options.

All the games consist of an arrangement of tiles with different symbols on them and you use the mouse or arrow keys to select the tiles.

The first one is 'Solitaire', this has several layers of tiles and you have to select two matching tiles that are on the outside edges. The purpose is to end up with no tiles left (this isn't always possible though). There are solitaire and  two player options.

The second game is 'Rivers', again you have to select matching tiles but they have to be in positions where no more that 3 imaginary straight line would connect to them without crossing another tile on the same layer. (that's the best way I can describe it and it's easier to actually try it)

The third one is 'Memory', this is just a matching pairs game where you cannot see the face of the tile but have to click on two tiles to 'turn' them over, if they match then they are removed and you need to try to remember where the ones that didn't match are.

The next ones are 'Clicks' and 'Slider' but I haven't played these.

The next one is 'Hashira' and this is similar to tetris where you have to move a set of three falling tiles so that they land on the tiles below trying to get 3 or more tiles in a row that match either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Unlike tetris the falling tiles do not have different shapes.

The final one is 'Kumika' but I haven't played this either.

The tiles (and games) are very customizable and can be played in 2d or 3d mode.
