I've started to have problems with loss of sync even when the connection is not being used, my line is on MaxDSL but the 10 day training period has past.

The current line stats are;

Connection Speed 3392 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 58 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin         6 db   19 db

I have tried switching off the router (Netgear DG834G) for 30 mins but it is still happening, I don't really want interleaving turned on as the main use is to host a Nascar 2003 'Sim race' each weekend

I have noticed the download snr drops when downloading, it can go down to approx 2db.

My SNR is usually no higher than 4, yet router has been up for ca 143 hours now. You may have a fault somewhere Glenn or IDNet may have to get BT to drop your sync rate manually. A drop of 800kbps will improve your SNR by 6. Sorry your experiencing probs man :(

Glenn

I email Support on Saturday evening, since then my connection hasn't re'sync'd, I wonder what they have done, if anything?

They may have interleaved your line ;)

Glenn

It stayed sync'd for a week, just bot back and I had not internet, had to reboot the router  ???

But ok now? Sometimes you`ll find you have to reboot your gear for no apparent reason, not such a big deal tho one would imagine ;)

Glenn

OK it's started again, lost sync 7 times in 24 hrs, I'm thinking about going back to my 1mb connection

Hi Glenn

If your router reset or lost sync for some reason at a time when the noise level was low (say between dawn and 8AM) it will have synced at a higher rate and it will have resynced downward as the noise level increased thought the day into the evening.  This is all part of the ADSLMax 'rate-adaptive' process.  Looking at your final connection speed in your first post I would say that 7 or 8 steps down would seem reasonable.  Unfortunately, this process has to take place every time the router or the modem in the router restarts for whatever reason.  The most recent episode might have been caused by the thunderstorms or some other exceptional noise.

Based on a lot of reading on this type of problem recently, I would say that it is unlikely that BT would make changes to your line because of 8 or so resyncs a day, you are normally looking at 10 or so events an hour to trigger any change.

Hope this helps a little.

I think thats the problem with people who don't have max sync and the rate adaptive system BT have in place. I had a couple of days where my sync locked with nice margins but it started to reync in the morning to a higher rate and a couple of times at night to a lower rate. I've tried increasing my margin but all that does is make me sync even higher and it starts all over agin.

Think I read on adslguide that the isp might be able to increase your target marginso you lower and maybe asking to gett your line trained could help also, but don't take my word for it.

Ordered me a new filter so I hope that might help and will sak to see if they can increase my target margin, otherwise I will have to take matters in my own hands and take an axe to the lamp post in front of my house ;) :). grr.

I think I nee to start digging a trench in my front garden. Opps, was that  phoneline??

Heres the latest resyncs for the past 5 hours, the router restarted itself yesterday morning

Miriam asked me to contact IDNet when it happens for them to check the line etc, but it's only after the fact that I check the stats. This evening I've been watching MotorsTV and Top Gear and come back to this ??? >:( >:(

Looks like it's fixed.

Miriam contacted BT on my behalf after losing sync 56 times in 6 days. BT have reduced the connection speed by about 10%, down to 2720kbps, but since Friday around 15:30 my connection has been solid.

Thanks Miriam.
