Me neither Alf.its been interesting I came across a lot of reviews of xp on my travels recently and I was amazed as there were a lot of very similar things said about xp,took up too much space was slow nearly all the things said about vista,Its just a personal thing but vista for me at least,is easier to understand and much more user friendly and there is better things like the loathed Aero, which I must admit I love  :thumb:

It's like us, David, we bought Sue a new Le Creuset pan, so ended up changing with the whole range, we ordered some pasties, ran out of freezer space and need to get a new freezer now. Never upgrade. ;D

And he blames me for saying Donald Russell meat is good.

Actually, it was the DR meat which really started the rot, that filled the freezer and required a Le Creuset Grillet. :)

I have yet to ascertain the cause of this reflex and its unfortunate consequences

Can you identify the drivers?

Yes when I explore the content of the partition I can see where they are

David, what is the model of PC, motherboard or sound card?

Also, if you run the MS Vista compatibility test what does it say?

Rik

Just pull them off to a flash device, then and point Vista at that to install them, or what Glenn says.

Steve

Try sisoftware lite to identify the soundcard here Then hopefully a driver can be found.

Spent part of the day myself look at a macbook and a macbook pro, expensive way of running vista but they are very nice pieces of kit

Seen a lot of vista laptops today but build quality seems generally somewhat tacky compared to a mac

I think Apple could make big inroads in the next few years. I've definitely begun to think that way.

If you're not happy David do a clean install with a empty drive you can still do this with an upgrade disk  http://windowssecrets.com/2008/04/03/01-Its-official-upgrade-hack-included-in-Vista-SP1

I am very tempted  I seem to have found some backup options involving whs and file sharing should be ok. Cant decide whether I would need the macbook pro though,I suspect not.
