Twin SSID 2700 Router arrived this morning. Appears brand new all sealed in original plastic bags etc. :thumb:

Has the latest firmware installed. Referred to 'kinmels' instructions and entered 'HOME' and up came a completely different page than described. Tried to go it alone but failed to get much further. :dunno:

Is it worth giving LesD's instructions for single SSID a go?

Have to go out now will sign in later for any advice that may be offered.   :fingers:

Simon

Can you confirm the software version, Quandam?

Try http://192.168.1.254 instead of home.

Rik

Used that, still same page appears. Thanks

Steve

I think you've got the latest firmware which is a worry keep an eye on this link . I am not sure how you get to the setup page with this firmware it appears at present no one knows how to unlock it or change the firmware. The latest comment is that someone on Zen has been upgraded and somehow managed to reconnect. At the moment its probably not worth spending too much time on it unfortunatley.

Yes, I have the V6 version. Followed your link (thanks) and the V6 version appears to be very complicated to set up (I could be very wrong) with a non BT ISP. There are a lot of if's and but's and 'be carefuls' and has frightened me off somewhat. If anyone has any suggestions as to my next move feel free to air your knowledge. :thumb:

Thanks, see my latest post. I agree, for the moment, things should be left on the back burner. Good job I only paid £2.20 for the router, not too much damage! :thumb:

Steve

Have you tried to access the internet with all cables connected? The Zen user was given reasons for non connection and then prompted for ppp username , password and router password

Yes, all my efforts were with all cables connected. :dunno: I think I will go and have a lie down in a darkened room now! :eek4:

Quote from the earlier link  Simon took the plunge and performed a full factory reset of his upgraded hub.  Here is his findings (mostly unedited):

Upon reboot it asks for a password, I tried the obvious ones like "2Wire" and "password" to no avail so I clicked on "Forgotten Password" and it gave an option to reset the password by using the default WEP key. (which can be found on the label stuck on the underside of the hub)

Phew password reset! – then it does not offer a setup wizard though all pages are accessible and trying to launch a webpage starts the same wizard reported previously. However in my case after entering my Plusnet user details the "Re-attempting Connection" page appeared, it then briefly flashed up an error, too quick to read, before saying "Successful, close all browsers before connection to the internet".

I then went to the 'Settings > Broadband > Link Configuration' page and tried to change the MTU, when I hit 'Save' button, it returned "PPP User Name error", so I changed my user name to 'xx@btinternet.com' and it accepted the changes. I then went to connect to a webpage which brought up the wizard again, I changed my username back to @plusdsl.net, got the "Re-attempting Connection" page, again it briefly flashed up an error before saying "Successful, close all browsers before connecting to the internet". Back to the 'Settings > Broadband > Link Configuration' page and the previous MTU change continued to be registered. I changed the MTU back the same way.

The reset also set the VCI correctly to 38 where as after the upgrade it was set to 35.

Thanks for this Steve.

I wonder if Simon could confirm that this set up is running OK without any problems. I am still wary of giving it a go, if I should come up against any hurdles I am not sure if I could resolve them. :dunno:

Steve

Looked at the updated info, appears good so far. Can anyone tell me what MTU Idnet should be set at? Thanks :fingers:

David

Hi Steve double check but Im pretty sure it is 1500

Hope this helps  :thumb:

Rik

It is 1500, but you can also use 1458 or 1430.

Thanks Rik. Have just tried the updated set up mentioned in Steve's earlier post without success. The updated info is very very close to the version on my router but slightly different. It would appear that my router has an added 'hurdle' introduced by BT to prevent unauthorised usage.

When I arrive at the 'Broadband Link Is Unavailable' the link bottom left is not 'set up now' it is 'check broadband connection now' and then leads you off down a different road from the route being followed. I have tried all I know (very little!) but can get no further. Hopefully someone will get it sorted in the near future. :dunno:

You need one of the 2700 specialists, hang around they'll be here soon.
