Mine arrived this morning, after a week's delay when either the courier or the warehouse lost it. To eBuyer's credit they arranged for a Saturday delivery at no extra cost (it was supposed to be here last Monday). :thumb:

I've now wiped XP Home and installed XP Pro along with all the required drivers. Seems perfectly capable for Office apps and web browsing, it's virtually silent (unlike my old Fujitsu-Seimens Lifebook), it has a bigger screen (at a slightly higher resolution) than my old laptop and it cost a third of what that one did!

I'm still getting used to the keyboard layout but the keys are full size and the action is very positive. The only thing I don't like is the trackpad, but I guess afetr a few weeks I'll get used to it.

Just got to move all the stuff off my old laptop now and I can retire it. :)

Sounds good. These netbooks are getting to be quite popular, and I can see why. :)

Next time i've a few hundred quid spare i might well pick one up, they seem so much more useful for people out and about.

They are, Lance. I took my NC10 on the trip to see the family yesterday. I'd never have bothered to lug the notebook. Was able to make a brief appearance in the forum, run a slide show of the photos we took during the day, and update my TomTom. :)

They do look great, can't see a use for myself, but it also makes me think we just use technology of this sort to often, its like a scene from CSI where everyone walks around with a tablet with information on, not sure I like where this is taking us, the pen will be obsolete soon, well one with actual ink in it.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

Pen and paper is easier for most things, Gary, but if you need to share data, then tablets look a good way to go.

Thats true, Rik, I think my reply was based on how hard I find it to actually use a pen as I am so used to a keyboard, I bet though these turn into the next commodity to mug people for, some sort of lock down software would be useful, remember the mobile phone mugging spree from a few years back?

It's still going on, Gary. :(

Sad, guess with the depression it may get worse, I have AV and firewall software on my phone which also locks it down so you cant get into it or make calls all by sending an sms, which may be difficult as you just lost yours ;)
