I wish you could buy those ice creams in the fruits that they do in Indian restaurants.  That's the best bit!  Apart from the ten pints of beer beforehand, that is.  ;D

Only 10? Lightweight!  ;D

I lost count after 15 in Belgium last week! In one bar we got free beer just for sitting outside! Getting back to the hotel at 5 in the morning and then up for the conference at 8 was a real struggle though!

Looks good Simon :thumb: not sure about how updating the firmware goes on those, if its totally debranded it should update ok, if its just unlocked it may get locked again if you update it if the only supplier of firmware is Vodafone then that would be the case unless blackberry release generic firmware. Let us know what its like, I'm holding out for the N97 in June, well August after the first buggy release batch is gone though and its had a firmware update, or two but if it gets bad reviews I'll tick along with what I have, I really want want a slide out qwerty keypad so the thing can be used on a table etc, or in my hands with the screen at a tilt like the X1 but without the hell that is windows mobile.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Lance

I thought the latest version of windows mobile was quite well thought of?

I've been looking at the firmware upgrades, and it seems that they can be made 'generic' by removing one of the files, once downloaded onto the PC, before uploading to the phone.  I'd be slightly nervous of 'bricking' it, so I'm hoping this one already has the latest firmware.  I think it's going to be quite a steep learning curve!  :)

I've never heard a good thing said about Windows Mobile. A friend of mine had an SE X1 briefly, which I believe had Windows Mobile 6 (the latest), and it was pretty sub-standard.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. Even when you brick a lot of devices, they're still fixable. :)

Windows mobile even with a user friendly front end is clunky and unfriendly, and just to fiddly, Andoid, Symbian apple etc are all much more user friendly and intuitive, having windows fire structures on my old Titan drove me mad, even the handwriting recognition was sub par to the really old hand writing of the SE P910i Running a symbian OS, that you could write like it was pen to paper. Windows needs to play catch up, people want ease of use, I guess that's why SE and HTC have their own front end to windows mobile to help people get to whats needed without PDA drama, and IE on even the latest version is dire to say the least as is windows media player. Well that's my view having played with a few, I just never get on with them.

Simon

probably ahead of myself, but I wonder if a different OS can be installed on these things?
