Greetings all!
I am upgrading from IDNet 2Mb package to Telephone and ADSL+2 package. I understand my ultra-reliable six-year-old Vigor 2600We router will have to go.
Vigors being a bit pricey these days I will probably choose between the (seemingly very popular) Netgear DG834G and the Mimo Netgear DG834PN for which I expect to need a WPN511 for my IBM Thinkpad R52.
Has anyone any opinion to offer on these two routers? Comments will be gratefully received.

Hi Jay. Personally, I would avoid a pre-N router and stick with the standard 834G, preferably v4 or later.

I agree with Rik, except I'd stick with a v4 and not go for a v5 if possible. The v5 uses an inferior Conexant chipset. The Broadcom in the v4 is much better.

Indeed - I had to get my replacement for the DG834Gv2 off eBay as all the local retailers were selling the newer v5 :D

Amazon sold me the v4 a few months ago when the v5 was out and about, should drop them an email to confirm if they still will as this version info isn't present on their product page afaik

edit: never mind, looks like Amazon's using a 3rd party shop to stock them now.

Thank you all for speedy response.
DG384 v4 seems to be unanimous. When searching I'll take care to specify a v4.
Looking forward to ADSL+2 although to tell the truth speed takes second place to reliability and service which of course is why I'm here  :)
with kind regards
