Just who do I thank?

Above is a sample of what I have been experiencing, not impressed :mad:
For  2 days I have been getting 2Mb.
Yesterday I got 4Mb all day ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
WELL, look at todays :o

So, this is what my line is capable of!
According to the 'High pings again' thread, this is all thanks to BT?
So should I migrate to BT then?

The high ping would indicate you're suffering from the 'pipe congestion' problem that has troubled several customers. It helps to note your IP Profile at the same time, either via checking your router stats or doing a BT speedtest, just so you know that the reduction in speed isn't due to a line fault.

From what I gather, BT the ISP, suffer from some pretty drastic reductions in download speeds at peak times, they also use traffic management, so whilst cheaper they may not be much better than your current predicament. See Rik's post on the issue and then speak to Idnet support.

Rebooting your router may fix the problem, but obviously you don't want to be doing that on a frequent basis.

They are in most instances, but not pings. Remember, though, that unless you use VOIP or are a gamer, pings are not that critical and that ping traffic is given low priority (some sites no longer respond to pings at all). You need to run the diagnostic procedure that Dujas highlights to establish exactly how bad your problem is, and where the issues lay. Once you have that, support will be in a position to advise and help you.

Hi Rik, you have helped me before.
Yes I play PS3, that is why I pay a premium for internet.
I normally have 100ms ping.................which by all accounts is well high.
BUT that has been fine for gaming.
I don't like to get on to ID help without good reason, and the ping / download speed has been random and all over the place these last two weeks; I assumed they are sorting a general issue.

There's been a problem, since a temporary central failure, in getting the network re-balanced correctly. We were told it had been completed and then IDNet found they'd over-compensated somewhat, and created some new congestion. The final tweaks have been happening since Monday, and they are just about there when I spoke to Simon, last, Mynnydd. However, if your problems persist, follow through on the diagnostics, and your specific issue can be checked out. :)

I will give them a while before I pester then.
But my normal 2mb (for 12+ months) has jumped the last 2 days to constant 4 - 5MB.
Just tell them to leave the speed on my line alone LOL.

Sounds like BT may have done some work for that kind of change. Nice to see them doing something useful for once. ;D
