I know we have a good few members that game online and I was just wondering what hardware people are using. So, if anyone wishes to give the specs of the PC they built or bought for gaming here is your chance.

My gaming machine is home built and runs the following

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9950 @ 3.8 GHz (I got lucky with the processor its the new E0 stepping with a VID of 1.1V, runs at 3.8GHz with only 1.23V)
Noctua NH-U12P cooler (max core temp of 53C stress testing with Prime95)
4GB Hyper-X RAM @ 1080Mhz 5-5-4-12 timings 2.12V
Abit IP35 Pro motherboard
ASUS ROG Matrix 4870 (core @ 875MHz Memory @ 4GHz DDR5)
2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 (short stroked) in RAID 0 - much faster/quieter/cheaper than a WD Raptor and more storage
Alienware ALX case
Vista 64

My machine is rapidly getting out of date, however money is tight and I chose next summers motorbike over a new machine.

I also build my computers but I scimp on everything I can. Saying that though this machine was as almost as good as they got back in the day.

AMD 64 dual core @ 3.0Ghz
Coolings - fans cannibalised from old pentium 2 processors + a few case fans (I call it recycling, not stinginess  ;D)
4GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia 8800GT
Windows 7 64-bit

I find myself having no problem running games except Arma II, which it doesn't run well at all.

That is one hell of a machine you have there Fox! Everything about it is absolutely tip-top-notch. You are clearly a more dedicated gamer than I.

I must admit that I do enjoy my gaming. I have played for some of the top american clans in BF2 (not in any particular order..Team Dynamic, 6th AD, SHS etc) in both TWL and CAL (main and open). I started my online gaming with Mechwarrior 3 and 4 with the 55th Northern Raiders - we had an awesome team, never lost a clan battle in 3 years of playing Mech (ah the good old days).

Having a nice machine to play on doesn't make me a better player, but it is sooo much nicer to play on. The main reason I am with IDNet is it's one of the few ISPs that give me a consistently low ping so I can play on american servers (barring a few hiccups the last few months which seem to have been resolved).

I built my pc about 2 years ago

Q6600 Core2Quad CPU @ 2.4ghz
Asus P5Ne32 SLI motherboard
2GB Crucial Ballistix Ram
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX.
500GB Sata HDD
Corsair HX620 Modular PSU
16xDVD writer

All housed in a nice Antec 900 Case with 2 x 120mm fans at the front, 1 x 120mm fan at the back and 1 x 200mm fan on the top.

Plays everything nicely, although since I quit CoD4 I rarely use it now.

I generally use the Xbox360 to satiate my gaming needs these days.

Gary

I had an Alienware, i7 965 Extreme, 12Gb DDR3 2x Nvidia GT 280's, two Velociraptor 150GB drives in raid 0 and a 1TB storage drive, a Thermaltake 1200 watt toughpower PSC on an Asus PT6. and a Creative X-Fi Gamer, with a blu-ray burner and 20x Cd blah blah, anyway it was a pos kept throwing hissy fits and so was sent back. Now I'm happy with My 160GB PS3, and currently playing killzone 2 and WET.

Slowed down the upgrading for a while (student.car.money)

Got a lovely case recently, Coolermaster Haf 922 (its got 2x 20cm fans and 1x 120mm...capable of fitting another two 20cm fans !)

Q6600 back down to 3.1ghz cause i lost me cmos settings and didnt have much time to tinker again

4gb Reaperx ddr2 ram @ 5-5-5-18 near enough 1000mhz i think

8800gt @ 700/650/950 (got a nice arctic cooling accelero s1 v2 on which makes it silent!)

asus maximus formula hacked to rampage formula

ocz gamextreme 600w

2x raptorx 150gb, 2 x seagate 320gb

creative x fi soundcard

dysonco

Q6600 (lapped) at 3.51Ghz (9x 390) 1.4vcore
Thermalright Ultra 120 Heatsink (lapped)
Abit IP35 Motherboard
8 Gb OCZ Platinum RAM
Asus 4870x2 trifan
1Tb Samsung F1 HD
Seasonic M12 700 PSU
All packed in Silverstone TJ10 case

Maximum CPU core temp on prime all 4 cores at full load is 65 degrees

hanging my nose over i7 but haven't hit the buy button yet...

esh

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz @ 3.6 GHz with some crazy Thermalright heatsink + 120mm fan
Corsair DDR2 Dual-Channel pair, 1066 MHz, with 3x cute 40mm fans attached
BFG GTX 295
A stack of Noctua 120mm fans
Akasa Omega case

I only use Logitech MX520s and G5s for my mice. I have a whole stack of them :(
Oh, I use Windows XP64 currently too.

Have a Creative X-Fi but it is terrible so I use the onboard instead  :o
CompuServe 28.8k/33.6k 1994-1998, BT 56k 1998-2001, NTL Cable 512k 2001-2004, 2x F2S 1M 2004-2008, IDNet 8M 2008 - LLU 11M 2011

I used to be a razer fan but after binning 2 of their mice, i currently use a Roccat Kone (similar shape to the G5). It is a really nice mouse to use and never seems to skip during the more intense moments in FPS.

gizmo71

Core 2 Duo E8400
GeForce 8800GT (unending source of trouble - underclocked memory at the moment trying to get some stability)
6GB of 4-4-4 PC6400 (mixture of OCZ and Ballistix)
Nondescript 250GB SATA drive
Logitech G25 wheel and pedals - waiting for the G27, need more buttons!
Instead of a tiny little monitor, you know, a mere 40 inch LCD panel or somesuch, it's hooked up to an Epson home cinema projector providing an image of some nine feet diagonally. ;D

Next year I'll build a new one when the 32nm Core i5s come out, and use the 10,000 rpm Raptor drive which is currently in my workstation.

my little gaming machine is

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3GHz
4gigs of ocz ddr2
nvidia 8800GT oc2
windows xp pro (would rather have linux but....)

Danni

I've recently updated mine. Still nowhere near top of the range, but a lot nicer than it was.

AMD Phenom X4 9650 (still on stock at 2.3GHz)
4GB Corsair DDR2 ram (stolen from Johan's machine :P)
NVidia 8500GT graphics
Kubuntu Karmic Koala Alpha (it runs World of Warcraft fine... :P)

I have two monitors- a Hanns G HG216D 22" widescreen, and a Dell something 19" not-widescreen. They work well together :) With the four cores and 4GB of ram, I can comfortably run World of Warcraft on maximum settings on the 22" monitor (1680x1050) while running a web browser (often with YouTube), IM client, Spotify and various other things on the other monitor (at 1280X1024).

CPU C2D 6750
Ram 4Gb
Video 8800GT
HDU 250Gb
3 x LG 19" screens
Maxtor Triplehead2Go running the screens at 3840 x 1024.

tbf 8800gt is still pretty much capable at most resolutions at running at semi high / high settings anyway.

u need aftermarket cooling tho - else it screams - mine got to like 90c.

now idles at 30/40 and tops at 50 (folding overnight)

My 360 running into a sony 40" samsung series 6 pays for its running costs by eliminating the need to switch the heating on untill late December
