There's a whole raft of updates Safari 5.1, iWork 9.1,iTunes 10.4 (64bit),Java for OS X Lion, Remote Desktop Admin and client and a couple of migration assistants

Thanks, but I think I'll leave them until this slowdown speeds up again, they won't be going anywhere

I've just tried the iTunes 10.4 update for Windows, and got 'invalid signature - cannot install'.

I think it may be a good week or two to ignore the Apple update sites...

All I can see is a 10.4 iTunes 64 bit  Windows  version Simon, I guess your still running a 32 bit OS so it won't install.

It was an auto update via iTunes, Steve.  As it happens, I've just tried it again, and it's installed now.

Sorry I've found it now, couldn't see the 32 bit version amongst all the other updates.

Thanks Bill , I left that one as all my Macs are now running Lion, I've just been looking at the Lion server but not sure whether I've any use for it.

I always use Software Update, and rely on it not to tell me about updates I don't need/can't use.

It seems to work, I've noticed differences between notifications for the iMac and the MacBook on occasion.

I use it for all the minor updates but stick to the combo for the larger ones it saves on the download allowance.

I know a lot of people do that, and it can make sense, but I don't normally crowd my limit that closely.

I think I've only once delayed an update until after midnight!

Because my new iMac has Lion on it, Steve you get no discs not even for iLife, so after an hour and half to download Lion (tried resinstalling for what turns out to be a lion/itunes bug it seems) you then have to download the entire iLife collection if you use it, then Pages etc. that must be 7Gb  I was up at 4:30am doing it before peak time started.

Thanks  I'm hoping his sorts a wifi issue on the MBP when Time Machine is in use following wake from sleep.

Resolve an issue in which an admin user account could be missing after upgrading to OS X Lion.

My iMac came with it installed Bill, on the whole I like it, the extra security is a good and its as fast on this iMac as my old one with SL on it as well. If I had an iMac with 10.6.8 I would wait maybe till 10.6.2 which brings iCloud, but this update should have helped a lot. I got SL when it was at 10.6.1 and I had no major issues.

I'm just wary of Lion... I never expect a major OS upgrade to be perfect from the off, but this one seems to have more than its fair share of niggles.

And frankly, I would describe an admin account going missing as a LOT more than a niggle, especially if it had happened to me

Thats not happened to everyone though and tbh once you install Lion I would probably clean install it anyway at some point, you have to remember the forums are like hospitals, you never get people saying how well its working, also updating an OS can corrupt stuff, some peoples complaints are because thier hardware/software was not in order. No need to be angry about an OS you have not got really either. Wait your time, or update, you can go back to SL if you have that anyway already.

I had no choice as the replacement imac came with Lion installed. SL had some issues that were fixed in 10.6.1 one I remember was quite a biggy fixed in 10.6.2 that could meant if you had logged into your guest account you may lose all your data in your main account when you tried to log back into it..
