Not sure why Gary is complaining about a 249MB update to 10.8, there's a security update for Snow Leopard out that weighs in at 330-oddMB

Not tried the Safari update yet but some control over the java plugin seems a better idea than permanently off or on.

I dont have Java installed as I dont need it, but it seems a good idea for those that do. tbh the JRE should be ploughed into the ground forever as its such a hive of evil zero days. Oh and its iPhoto 9.4.4 I forgot that last night.

I was not moaning at all, Bill. I was happy it was small, It just seemed odd for nearly 6 mths of betas that it was so tiny an update.

Get the impression the next OS update could be late as don't they often bundle Safari in with it.

Raw update 4.0.5 and it was iPhoto 9.4.3. To many numbers all at once. Apple tend to push out loads of updates at once then none for ages... their shared dropped below $400 today too.

The Apple share price is looking like Apples in Autumn, but they have had a good run in more ways than one, innovation is not something any company can continue to repeat ie look at MS

I would agree Steve, I don't see innovation this year with Samsung either, its small steps till the next bug thing in tech development, and the number of cores in your phones CPU is not that innovation. The G4 is a G3s really. Anyway competition is good for all, if they only stopped the dumb lawsuits for a while.

Thunderbolt firmware update available for (at least some) Macs.

Not sure if it's a cumulative update or whether the first run didn't "take", but I had to do it twice.

Mine went first time, grey screen then a white screen and a grey line going along the bottom, bit odd its only for 10.8.3 or upwards though.

I assume it depends when you bought the Mac (ie which hardware you've got) rather than the OS in use. I don't get it for the MacBook, that's running 10.8.3 as well but doesn't have a Thunderbolt port.

@Steve- I might have a Thunderbolt port on the iMac, but that doesn't mean I've got anything to plug into it

(Not 100% true- it doubles as the DVI port for my second monitor)

Well it is essentially a PCI Express and Display Port combined.

I have a Thunderbolt port, you wont get the update unless you do, its just odd that a firmware update seems to be for 10.8.3 only when iMacs came with Thunderbolt ports before Mountain Lion was released which would mean someone on say Lion would not get the latest firmware update

I think there were previous issues with Thunderbolt 1.2 last year on Lion, ie it broke, perhaps they've not fixed it therefore they're not getting it.

iTunes 11.0.3 released. improved Songs View and the ability to view multi-disc albums as a single album. The update also brings enhancements to the MiniPlayer, such as a new album artwork view and a progress bar. Also bug fixes

Not sure I like the new album artwork view on the mini-player... the ability to move and resize it independently on the old one was very useful, I found.

(edit- even if it didn't always stay where you put it!)

But the progress bar is a welcome return.
