I'm looking at getting a Nexus 6 when it's released later in the year, if rumours are correct it will be based on the forth coming LG G3.

The google play M8 looks nice but one again silly price for what it is which is a nexus in a flashy body.  LG seem to do well and dont cost the earth.

I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a 32/64GB iPhone 5/6 this year to replace my ageing iPhone 4. They are ridiculously expensive but it's something I use in one way or another 24/7.

But they last well usually and of course run the latest OS. Will my Nexus 5 last 2 years to earn the cost saving, I think it will but I don't think at that age it will run the latest OS which is always a temptation to swap out.

I've had my 4S for three years now, and I can't see it running iOS8 very well.  There are features in iOS7 that it doesn't even run, so they are definitely pushing for hardware upgrades with each major iOS release. If I bought an iPhone 6, I'd have to get a 32 or 64Gb, but hopefully they will start at 32Gb this time.

I think you're right, Gary, £600+ is a ridiculous amount to spend on a phone, but like Zap said, it's something I use each and every day, so I want something decent.  The top end Androids now seem to be catching up with Apple's prices, so soon there won't be much to choose between them.

Ill go back to a dumbphone when mine dies, for myself texting and calling is all I need. I dont even go out enough to warrant music on one anymore. I refuse to spend almost the price of a a ticket to Australia every time I want a new phone. I have  a few friends who have gone back to old Nokia 6310i and I honestly dont blame them, for my needs it good enough. I use the so called 'smart' features less and less  so what's the point. If you use one as its meant to be then fair enough but I dont anymore, I just need a basic phone and the 8210 I picked up is immaculate and tbh is small and lasts about 6 days on one charge, thats all I need for emergency's if im out in my wheelchair.

I was even looking at a Blackberry Z30 this afternoon.  Reviews are pretty good for the phone, and it's not a bad price, but of course, there's a high risk of jumping aboard a sinking ship with regards the future of the company.

In the end a phone is a phone. I bought a 1year old iPhone 4S on ebay for about £160 and love it but I really don't use all its functions and when push comes to shove it's no better than my Sony for my needs. There is no way I would pay £600 for a phone and as I always buy ex-display PCs usually for under £400 there is no way I would pay £1500 for a desktop be it Windows or Apple.  :)

I would avoid Blackberry, wait and see what Apple brings out, if not the google play version of the M8 may be the best bet, personally id prefer to go to Australia  ;)

I have with the same result I'm afraid but thanks for the suggestion.

[EDIT] After a lot of messing around I've finally managed to get the phone to restart by plugging it into a new installation of iTunes. Even that was problematical. I then tried to restore the phone using the old installation but it wasn't having any of it. So, I've now got a brand new phone :sigh:

Coincidentally, I was just about to back up the phone prior to reinstalling iTunes and thought I'd install the update as it was offered to me ::) Oh well, hopefully it'll at least sync with my new installation of Outlook...

7.1.2 is a little more than they said it fixes a whole host of vulnerabilities, including 30 issues in the mobile version of WebKit. Mail, Safari, Siri, and the OS kernel also gets the patched.
