Vista SP2

I've not updated my Vista Ultimate SP1 to SP2 because I understood that it's basically just all the later Security Updates and I've installed them anyway. Is there any reason why I should install it, I don't appear to have had any problems?

Completeness? I should imagine that it would only install the bits it needs to. Sooner or later, MS will drop support for SP1 as they did with XP.

It foxed some issues it was not all previous updates and when I had Vista it was more stable after, its best to stay up to date on service packs.

i took the plunge with the install of suicde pack 2 on my vista laptop. not noticed anyreal difference in performance or general uselessness that i tag with vista

In fairness to Vista, I did find that SP2 made a noticeable improvement, but obviously it's still not great.

Does installing SP2 involve a lot of bother and would it mean reinstalling all the Security Updates issued since it came out?

To judge by XP SP2/3, no, it looks at what you've already installed and then fills in the gaps, quite painless - though do take an Acronis image first.

it could just be the lack of use my laptop has been getting
