I'm sorry to say it but I'm gonna have to migrate away from IDNet, and I was wondering if you guys could let me know the best way to do it. The couple of reasons behind me wanting to change is the charge firstly, I just can't afford £35 every month and the download allowances. I'm thinking of going with Be or O2 because I can get a discount with being an O2 customer already. Is there an easy way to transfer, do I have to give notice of so many days before cancelling, etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Simon

You just have to ring or email IDNet, and ask for your MAC.  They are obliged to give it within five working days, but it will probably be sooner.  You then give the MAC to your new ISP when you sign up.  I'm not 100% sure if there's a 30 day cancellation term, but I don't think there is.

Is your exchange WBC enabled?  If so, have you considered upgrading with IDNet, which would then give you a higher download allowance for the same as you are paying now?

Thanks for the information, that sounds fairly easy, just like a mobile phone.

Referring to WBC status, my exchange is appauling, nothing available, WBC will be enabled 30/03/2010 according to SamKnows (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/SDPVNSM)

So, you're going to the non-LLU, O2 Home Access product?  I've heard that's pretty dire.  :(

Really? Grr .. might just have to hold out for a couple of months then and see what happens in March.

Yep, seriously, do not go onto O2 Access. O2 LLU/Be are great, but beware of O2 Access (the same goes for Sky Connect, Sky's non-LLU product).

I can second that, as I came from O2 ACCESS myself and they are absolutely terrible, come around 5pm my speeds where below 0.25Mb but around midnight they where back up to 6.5Mb. There customer support keeps lying about a quick fix which never happens. I stuck it out for over 6 months before I gave up and switched to Idnet.
