Hi
Is anyone else experiencing a very slow connection this evening, it's taking me ages just to load simple pages (such as BBC News).

No problem here.

Glenn

I'm at work, but have you tried resync'ing the router?

About 0.5 seconds to load the BBC news site here.

It's around 15 to 20 seconds here. I'm just wondering wether some sort of problem with my router (which is temperamental with other things such as wireless) could cause this issue.
Dan

Rik

It could, can you post your line stats and also do a ping to www.idnet.net? Alternatively, it could be exchange congestion.

Someone who lives a couple of miles away (in rural Lincolnshire), a fellow Idnet customer, is also having this problem so I assume that indicates congestion or some sort of local issue. But I will try what you suggest as well, if it was a DNS problem am I right in thinking it would affect you and all other idnet users?
Dan

Rik

It would. There may be a BT fault affecting the area, but unfortunately I don't have access to that information and support is now closed for the night, so I can't ask.

I've attached the stats to this post.

That stats are fine (to die for if you have a line like mine!), so it's a network issue, probably BT. Can you run a BT speed test?

Post the results when it's finished, will you?

my pings seem a little jumpy but browsing seems to sluggish at times.

Would that line benefit from interleaving being turned off

Rik

Difficult to say without seeing you downstream sync speed, attenuation and noise margin, Colin, plus the error count (and over what period).

I've suffered slow speeds over the weekend Sat & Sunday (about 1 Kbps) but gradualy i'm back up to my usual 3.7 Kbps now.  :dunno:

Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them.

I'm just installing Java to run the test.

May seem a silly question but is it the test at   http://www.speedtester.bt.com/

Be prepared to be patient...

I'll alert support to a possible issue, in case there's any information available.

I've run test1, although when I entered the bt test username in the router for test 2 it failed to connect. There seems to be an issue on test 1 results which I've attached to this post.

I'm trying to run the second test but keep being unable to connect with the bt test username, and if i try with the normal username in it can't find the server for the second test.
Dan

Still no luck with the 2nd test. I'm going to give tech support a call tomorrow.

Hopefully, they will be able to locate the problem.

Hi there.  I'm also experiencing incredibly slow page loading times this evening, and I'm also in Lincolnshire.

We're beginning to see a pattern here. Have you done a bt speed test?

I can't even access the bt speed test site at the moment, or indeed most sites.  Luckily I can access this forum though after a lot of waiting!!
