I hate them.

I have a WD 1TB NAS drive that always crashes / stops responding and i have to pull the plug on the back and turn it back on (takes 5 mins to become active again)

I've tried resets, firmware updates etc.

Anyone else have these problems with NAS drives?

Rik

Sorry, don't have one, Paul.

I've got a 250Gb Buffalo one that's been running for over 3 years with no problem at all.  :fingers:

Rik

Didn't they have DRM issues?

Only if you wanted access to your movies/music from outside the office/house

Other than that, streaming music from it is fine.. when the bloody thing works!

Same here. Even upgraded the hard drive to a 1.5TB recently.

There may be an alternative to NAS now

I'm toying with the idea of getting one to attach my printers, external drive and -ermmmmm - something else to.

Have I lost my way?

I think it should work well if my Apple router is anything to go by, don't have any hassle with attached usb drives and usb printers.

My no-name Raid 1 NAS works fine, I can't remember the last time I accessed it for maintenance,  it just sits there all but forgotten.

What is the date of the referendum for England to become an independent country ?

Rik

Well, send it a Christmas card then, Alan. ;)
