Hope I've posted this in the correct section.

I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium on which I want to upgrade to Windows 7.

If i get the "upgrade" edition of Windows 7, will I need my Vista's serial number to install?  I can't seem to find it!!

Thankies.

Rik

You have now. ;)

I think you would probably need the Vista CD if you're doing a clean install. If you install over, you probably wouldn't need anything.

You can upgrade over Vista quite easily but be prepared for a 1 to 2 hour process.

or 4 in my case :(

Also, run the Windows upgrade advisor and uninstall anything it finds. In addition, if you use Comodo firewall, uninstall that first too (If I wasn't already bald, the Comodo issue would have had me pulling my hair out).

You can re-install after the upgrade.

Have I lost my way?
