Hi, new member here. been with IDnet now for about 2 weeks now and i have to say, loving it  :thumb: :thumb: problem is, we are downloading much higher than i expected. We have 2 computers, Laptop and Ps3 connected to the net and it looks like we are easily going to break the 30GB download limit. problem is , it looks like we will break the 60GB download limit. This is all done with pure web surfing and gaming.

no "hard" downloading (well, one mod patch at 2gb), their was a massive steam sale on recently but i didn't want to download anything cause we was raping the limit as it was. Last month we use 18GB and it says "12" at the bottom, that mean 18gb in 12 days? if so thats on average 1.5, x30 = 45 so maybe we can stick with the 60GB package. An 80gb package would be perfect  :fingers:

Simon

I'm assuming you can't get ADSL2+ (up to 24Mb), Gazz?  That would give you a 90Gb download allowance.  If not, then 60Gb is the max on, er, Max (up to 8Mb), unless you're going to start talking business packages, but if you go over the 60Gb, it's still only £1 per Gb, as far as I am aware.

Yeah cant get ADSL2+  >:( got this month to figure out my real month allowance, can any one confirm my monthly report from last month (which wasn't a full month) with 18GB download and "12" at the bottom means 12 days?

Simon

Sorry, where are you seeing '12'?  I'm looking at my own Bandwidth Usage page in my IDNet Customer Account portal, and can't see any figure like that.  If you're using the RSS feed, then I can't help, but I'm sure someone else will.

Simon

Yeah, I believe it is the 12th month, as in Dec.  When you've been here a while, it will start to look like this:

This month's , which only included s 2 days

Lance

Take a look at the rss feed which will give the complete breakdown.

With pure web surfing and gaming, assuming moderate use of YouTube and iplayer, 30gb should be plenty.

Definitely that 12 is the month, Gaz, ie December. The usage appears to be until Christmas Eve, it was free after that.

the thing is, we are averaging 2.2GB~ a day so far which will get our monthly allowance to 66GB at this rate. This is a real pitty as i dont want to leave because we cant stay in the allowance, can we change package mid month to the 60GB one as we are going to blitz this 30GB package?

Because right now, it will be cheaper to go slightly over the 60gb one rather than going alot over the 30gb one.

Rik

Billing runs from the 1st, so ask and you'll be fine.

Ok thanks, ill give it a good week to find a more accurate daily average. but at this rate we might have to bail from this ISP which is a real pitty  as this is best internet we have had in a long while. a 80GB service would be a god send  :bawl:

Steve

You could think about how not to have multiple downloads of the same files i.e updates, service packs etc. It would need a bit of discipline and time. I do it with the Mac, one OS update is copied to the other machine rather than downloaded again.

We have a home network LAN , so when it comes to gaming stuff i LAN it rather than re-downloading for other comp etc. but as i said, we are going to rape it by the looks of it with pure surfing. a new Mod update come out and its gunna cost me to download it.

Rik

Straightforward surfing and email should be no more than 3GB/month/machine. Is anyone running P2P, iPlayer or lost of YouTube?

Yes both youtube and iplayer (mainly youtube) are used alot. as for P2P, just gaming.

Rik

That's where the bandwidth is likely to be going then, Gazz.

Yup, which is a real pitty as i will probably need to look for a new ISP and this one has been so good.

When does your exchange go WBC?

not sure,

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/EAWTN

if that helps?

Samknows is so far out of date it's not worth looking at I'm afraid.
Try here instead;

or alternatively, check out your package details at IDNet which will give you an expected adsl2 date.
