CCleaner?  Back up your registry first, though.

If you're looking for something to replace Real Player I've always found VLC Media Player to be very good.

I had Real Player a couple of years ago and could never get rid of it. I seem to remember I did it by going into C:\Program files and then Regedit and removing the entries in the registry. Give a shout if your not familiar with Regedit and I'll tell you what to do, not really dangerous as long as you are careful and take your time. But, as Simon said, backup first.

First look in Start > run > and type in C:\Progam Files and delete the folder for Real Player if there is one
Also look in Start > run > C:\Documents and settings for any possible entries and delete them.

Then:
Start > run > type in Regedit > OK
You then get the Registry Editor open up
Click on the cross at the side of HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Go down the drop list to 'Software' and open that and look to see if you have an entry for 'Real Player' although I seem to remember the entry I had was simply 'Real'
If you have an entry for Real Player right click it and select delete.

Then close the drop lists and repeat the procedure for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

You could have an entry in both, just one or none at all.

I then go to Start > Search and search for any entries (Real Player in your case) and then delete them.
I then run CCleaner.

Hope that helps and as Simon said, make sure you have a back up.

I don't have it on my mac, but when I did use it on Windows I never got pop ups, you can change all the privacy settings to lock it down anyway if you look. Also the latest versions are far less intrusive and have better reviews, tbh I see no real need for it though.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Baz

Thanks Ian. funny enough I saw that 1st link about ½ hour ago and used a combo of that and yours.Have uninstalled it now so far so good,  will wait and see how it goes

thanks all

I recently downloaded this myself but wanted to try it out a bit more before recommending it here. So far it's been fine so thanks for the recommendation.

I've also been trying out Free Studio From Videosoft which has various functionality including video conversions. Not had problems so far but if anyone knows of any issues then please post them here.

After previous experiences I wouldn't let Real player anywhere near my PC.

I have used 'Real Alternative' on my computers over the years.

Seems to work fine, no adverts, no popups, just works. Small download/footprint.
