Well, since you mention it... ;D

The warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. These come from the Sale of Goods Act and, in the case of electrical goods, case law has set a six year working life as reasonable. The compensation reduces, pro rata, but the retailer bears the responsibility for getting it fixed.
