...as the tech support for his ISP (Orange) is pants!

His sync rate is just over 21000 yet the BRAS profile is 14000.

I found this a little puzzling, anyone have any ideas what would cause that?

Rik

Assuming that he's LLU, it suggests he needs to persuade them to to tinker with their settings. If it's via BT, then has he had a low-sync event recently.

Heh...sadly he's only just gone to Orange  :dunno:

Something to do with his mobile phone deal...anyway, I remember he did have a couple of problems a couple of weeks ago but as he's migrated to Orange (BT, not LLU) then he's in a fresh 10 day training period isn't he?

And there was me expecting it to be an embarrassing question given the title.

Oh, wait, he's gone to Orange; It is an embarrassing question.

I used to be with Orange before I joined Idnet  :comp:

(although their mobile service is okay)

Rik

I was with them before they were Orange and arrived here via Nildram, John.

I was with them almost from day one when they were Freeserve, stayed with them when they changed to Wanadoo but things went downhill rapidly when they were taken over by Orange.

Gary

I hated Orange, worse BB provider I ever had, I stayed as John did from the Freeserve days, Wannadoo that name was awful but it worked, apart from the spam filters, but when orange took over and did that free internet with your Mobile.....bad news, awful service and awful connection. O2 LLU was ok till I moved and was put on O2 access which as a name is ironic as access was denied at night almost, it was so slow, I learned my lesson and came back to Idnet.  There is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to the internet and your provider
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

Amen to that, Gary, there's cheap and there's value for money. Too many people can't tell the difference.

Thats very true, when people see unlimited they go mad for a £7 deal not really thinking about how much they really use, and that if you bought an endless supply of rib eye steaks at that price you would be very suspicious, Idnet before the allowance hike was great for me on the Max, now I'm swimming in more GB than I know what to do with, but Like yesterday Simon gave me a call after I left a message for a bit of advice, my carer was stunned when I said who it was, let alone that I was called back, that reaction just said it all to me, she does not get that treatment with Virgin that's for sure.
