Will a 2-wire router help me?

At present I use a Netgear DG834G v3 router.  According to RouterStats my noise margin varies between 12 and 6dB, sync will stay stable at 2656kbps or lower.  Rebooting to get higher sync rates leads sooner or later to "crashes". Most days at around 4.30pm my noise margin dives to about 4dB or less over a period of 10-15 minutes and if by rebooting I have already achieved a higher sync rate the margin drops to 0 and the router reboots to a lower sync.
IP Profile is 2000kbps with download about 1.9Meg. Attenuation is about 50dB.
I have tried a SpeedTouch 585v6 with the same results.  Reading the 2-wire 2700 sub board I see that some users use these routers to achieve better download speeds on poor lines.  Given the above information on my line is there any real chance of improvements with a 2-wire router. If so are there better versions to buy (on Ebay)?.
And yes I have done all the other things to try and restore my download speeds as I used to get over 3 Meg.

I'd say it's worth a risk, they have certainly worked well for me. Any dual SSID version should be fine.

Thanks for the advice.  Installed a 2-wire yesterday. Looked good to start with but come the late afternoon drops in noise margin it rebooted a few times and finished up syncing at 2656kbps which is the same steady state I achieved with my Netgear.  As far as I can learn the only thing left to me is to leave Idnet and go to AOL or TalkTalk to get a LLU ISP. That's a no brainer. So I have to resign myself to my current lower IP profile.

Even if you did, of course, the 'last mile' is still BT, and that's where the problem lays.
