When I get my own flat again, hopefully soon, I am coming back  to idnet  for my BB :) I would love a phone package from idnet, but as I am currently locked into a mobile phone contract I can't afford landline calls too ( I don't think) soooo would it be as easy for me to pay my landline line rental to idnet or would it be best to pay BT?

I would prefer  to give Idnet my money  if i do that do I just order the line only option + the BB I want? Also I will have to pay the £48 one off thing as I am not transferring from another provider?

Also how do you go about finding out a phone number for your new house? My idea is to order the package from idnet a week before I move in.. would that work? sorry so many questions. bet it was quiet without me around lol

You'll have to work out the costs. Is it classed as a new line? There are different one off connection charges depending on who you go with, BT for instance reduce the fee if you take line and broadband from them. I can't see what IDNet's charge is for connection of both phone and broadband however their line only charge is cheaper than BT. Your phone number is given when you order the connection. Its is possible to have the phone connected and broadband activated at the same time however you need to tell whoever ever you decide to go with thatsyou need a simultaneous provision of phone and broadband otherwise you have to wait until your phone is connected before ordering broadband.

If your waiting until after you get the keys to your new place, you can try plugging a phone into the BT line and dial 17070.
This will tell you the number thats currently assigned to that line.
This should work in most cases where the previous tennant or owner simply cancelled service from bt as part of moving out. In this case BT simply stop service, the line still has a number and I think it will let you phone the test number, 999 and maybe 150, but nothing else.

Sometimes that wont work, if the previous resident has opted to keep their number, ie to move it with them it will likly fail (this is when they have a premium number i think? Not sure what that is but it was a reason given to me once) Or if the line was closed due to non payment or has been fully disconnected. If you can call the test number then theres no connection fee if I recall, but if its totaly dead then its the 50 pound charge, and a total new line (as in drop a cable) its the 100 pound one. Prices likly gone up since I last did this. Thats BT prices btw, not Idnet's.
This is all from memory so maybe outdated and a bit unreliable, but thought I'd offer it incase its useful.
