I had a visit from the BT engineer today to look at my intermittent download speeds, after a a few checks he said that he would be pleased if he was getting a download speed of 450 kbs seeing I was 3 mile from the exchange. well he replaced my old faceplate on my master socket with a v1.0 adsl faceplate, all seemed well but after he left I found that my extension lead to my  bedroom socket ( wich is a normal telephone extension wire no longer worked even though I had been using it for a couple of years. I rang up BT to price an extension socket in the bed room, They said it would cost £163, for one socket. At the moment my master socket is in the living room, is there any way of a cheaper solution to my problem.

Tell them to come back and fix it,they should leave all extensions working as they were prior to the visit.

You should not have to pay for another extension.

If the extension was faulty/causing a problem then he should have advised you or repaired it. ::)

Indeed, you should demand that BT fix the fault they have caused. :)
