Hi I know a few people on these boards are using a one.

Just wondering what firmware versions/settings people were going with.

I've always had connection drops and I'm still getting lots of them.  Have contacted IDnet and they tested my line all seems to be fine on the face of things.  I've unplugged skytv/telephones etc only thing I have plugged in is my internet and I'm still getting them.  I doubt its my router but I would just like to know what people are using so I can eliminate any possiblities before contacting IDnet to forward the problem to BT.

Thanks,

TBH, I have no idea what a 5200g is, but I'm guessing a games console? If you don't get a response here, try posting in the Gaming forum as the specialists there will probably be able to help you immediately.

I suspect he is referring to the Billion router http://www.billion.com/product/wireless/bipac5200g.php (though I could be wrong).

Billion Support...........0870 8501528.

I tried a Bipac ,cant remember the model but the synch was half that of my Speedtouch 546v6,
connection kept dropping and for whatever reason the motherboard alarm started sounding every few seconds while the Bipac was connected.

Sent it back on RMA,it was going to be checked and I would be advised etc,no info came back but I got a full refund .

Thanks, DAB, I was taking a wild guess on the information before me. :)

Haha, sorry to bring this back from the dead guys :)

Yeah its a Billion 5200g wireless router and I know a few are using it and was wondering what would be optimal settings for the router/Idnet (if there is such a thing).

I'm cutting off a lot from the internet certainly more than the norm.  10 times a day easy and sometimes 20 times within one hour but thats only on odd days.

I've obviously contacted IDnet and they have also had BT properly check my line/exchange.

I just really want to eliminate any router settings as a potential problem before I move on with this.  I have tried everything unplugged from my phone sockets and the next logical step is to try it at the main socket to remove house wiring this would require me spending money on a 20m ethernet cable so before going to that extent I'd like to rule out this possibility first.

Any help appreciated.

As always thanks.

If by cutting off you mean you are losing sync, I am not aware of any router settings that would affect this - it is usually down to noise margin dropping to a point where the router can't make out the signal from the noise. Could you borrow a laptop for a few hours?
