Ok at the moment I have a google mail account. Mainly cos I have an android phone and it obviously adores google So if I were to get an idnet e-mail i  could use the pop account thing on my phone but is it worth it really.. hmm

It's always worth having at least two mail providers, Tina, so that you have a fallback if one of them develops a fault. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use an idnet.com address on the Android, but I'll move this thread over to the mobiles board where it will be seen by the experts.

No reason why you can't use a POP3 email account on a phone.

FWIW I can use both POP3 and webmail on my iPhone so I don't see why you should have problems using an Android.  The only thing I would point out is that POP3 is insecure, so you might prefer to use https webmail.

I'd never even considered that, Tac.  Does email need to be secure?

Since my working life has mainly been spent in either Government or Higher Ed, it's always been a given that things should be secure, so that has probably coloured my attitudes.  That said, there's rarely anything I say in an email that I would be bothered about anyone reading.

Before anyone says, I know about Government Departments losing CDs with confidential information, but I think attitudes have changed a lot since I worked in a Government Department and not always for the better.

I signed up but never used it as the sign in process was a pain.

I used to sign up for virtually every email service going back then, as most of them were free, but then, hardly ever used anything but my 'default' email address.

I have a yahoo address I use for forums and then I have my surname.com which I use for CVs and the like but alas its getting severly spammed.
