Direct debit. Silly question.

I pay by direct debit. I don't normally check this, as it's all automatic. Just by chance I pressed the button on the IDNet portal, and it shows yesterdays payment as "unpaid". Is this because it takes longer than a day to register? I'm guessing it will show "paid" on Tuesday?  :red:
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Simon

Has it left your bank account, Ben?  If so, it's probably just lodged in the clearing system.

Thanks. Yes it's gone. That's why I was worried, as if it had not have gone, I would know why. Although my bank would have got a phone call for not paying IDNet! As I have not cancelled anything. :P
I guess the "unpaid" bit means "due to be paid". I read it as not paid, and panicked.

I wouldn't worry.  Unpaid doesn't mean it's late, and they would always contact you if there was a problem.  I could be wrong but I believe DDs take two working days from point to point.

They do, and your next invoice, Ben, will show unpaid from the day it's issued until payment is received. As Simon says, if there's any problem, IDNet will contact you, they certainly won't cut you off.

Knew they wouldn't. Just with the bank holiday coming up. It's mainly us human beings that get the biggest lag over the weekend. Not the payments. ;)
