I note that Home SuperMax prioritises over standard ADSL traffic, amongst other elements of the package.

Would this overcome the buffering I have been experiencing since the World Cup started?

Grateful for any advice.

Rik

It should, John, but if the exchange is the problem, it may not, put another way, it should make things better but not necessarily good. Be aware also that there may be a charge if you later downgrade.

Thanks Rik. I was thinking of upgrading anyway, because of the higher upgrade speed, so I think I will give it a go. Is it a call to support or can I do it through the portal, do you know?

John

Rik

I always phone, John, but you can probably do it through the portal.

Thanks Rik.

All done. I phoned and it will be upgraded tomorrow.  :thumb:

It's so easy, isn't it.  :thumb:

Certainly is. I just received an email from Brian saying it should be done from tomorrow morning.
I'm like a kid waiting for a new toy, now.

 ;D

Run some ping tests before and after, John. I saw 4-5ms improvements.

Shall do.

Will I need to reboot my router, do you think?

Rik

I didn't have to, it happened automatically when BT reset the line.

It makes quite a noticeable difference with average download speeds for me on ADSL Max, and that has been experienced with three different ISPs.

JohnH

It hasn't changed the download speed appreciably for me, but it has stopped the buffering. Upload speed - not surprisingly - is nearly double what it was before.

So, I'm happy.  :)

I find it worthwhile if you depend on your 'net connection for some reason other than casual surfing.

Rik

Glad it's worked for you, John, how are your pings?

Gary

I have thought about it but I have visions of BT cocking it up and somehow ending up with a worse speed  :(
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

It hasn't happened for John, Gary and it didn't happen for me.

But that means I would be the third, and you know my luck  :bawl: Its also justifying an extra £10 when all is working fine really

Rik

It's not luck, Gary, we're talking BT here.
