I bought a new dual SSID 2700 today at a car boot, I already have one thats running V.6 firmware so I thought I'd get another to "Play" with. Anyway when I powered it up I was surprised and happy to find it's running V.5.29.117.6 firmware so I can up/downgrade it  :great: :great:

Now the question, for a long line ( 58db attenuation ) which is the best firmware for the highest possible sync speed? I have an SNR target of 12db. I've tried reading through most of the pages on "bt2700hgv.tripod" but although they have reams of information I can't find anything about which firmware is best on long lines.

The reason I ask is that at the moment I'm running my old trusty Speedtouch 546 with DMT tool taking my SNR down to 7db so I have a sync of 3584. Compare this with my V.6 firmware 2700 which syncs at around the 2900 mark, and although I prefer the 2700 it just doesn't give the speed I want. :(

Do not change from your present firmware, we consider it to be the best fully functional version.

Consider changing your provisioning server following this Guide on Tripod so that it doesn't upgrade to a V6 firmware.

Thanks Alan  :thumb: I've done that now.

I'm going to leave it till tomorrow to actually try connecting to the web, better SNR in the mornings  ;D

:thnks:

Be aware that you will not be able to adjust your SNR with the 2700 and so the 546 may still be your best option.

Have you asked if the margin can be put back to 6Db ?

It depends, on occasions in the past the 2700 has synced at the same speed as the 546 without an SNR tweak. Just for info regarding my line, Netgear, Belkin, D-Link, Zyxel, BT Voyager and TP-Link routers all sync at around 1000 less than the 2700 and speedtouch.

Been done twice. The last time I mentioned it on a thread here. It was reduced to 9db and lasted three days before shooting back up to 15db on the first resync. Since then it's dropped to 12db all by itself.

Thanks for your time  :thumb:
