Been looking at various computer based books for my studies next year and theres so many to choose from. Anybody got any to recommend?

They need to go into a certain amount of depth, but ease me in as I find a lot of it chucks you in the deep end pretty quick.

I'm after one for my Cisco CCNA, One on PHP and one on MYSQL

Todd Lammle seems to be 'the man' for the CCNA study stuff.

I bought the other because it gives you a good command reference for IOS.

Good luck, I'm right back at my days of learning DOS, trying to get it all to stay in.

Going for this one then
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CCNA-Certified-Network-Associate-640-802/dp/0470110082/ref=pd_sim_b_1

Now I'll just be needing mysql and probably php

That would be up to date for current tests wouldnt it?

As far as I know so yes.

That looks like a book I should buy. My poke and pray technique is not having the required results as far as PHP programming is concerned  :'(

I generate some multi-gigabyte SQL databases and have thrown out a fair few thousand lines of PHP in my time, so if you need a hand then give a shout. I have some slides hanging around from an SQL "primer" I did to the group last year but I doubt it's of much use... you can still have them if you want though. I learned almost all of my PHP/SQL via online sources and documentation and tampering... but I doubt that'll cut it in an actual course!

I tinkered a bit with SQL and phpMyAdmin when trying to sort out my own forum but ran into problems due to my lack of knowledge of both so gave up.
