That would be my bad, what format is your username? I'm assuming it's 000000000@xxx.yyy or something similar.

Early addresses were  @uk.idnet.dsl4

As long as the bit before the @ is numbers only, it should accept that. If not I'll have to modify the validation which I won't be able to do till I'm home.

No, before the @ is a username, xxxx.xxxx@

Ah ok, I'll amend it tonight to accept any email address type username.

Thanks, I'm having the same problem with my user name.

Love the Windows gadget - just the job!

Here's a QRCode for convenience

Changelog:
+ more lenient username validation (should now accept all usernames, let me know if it doesn't accept yours!)
+ configuration is now a dialog instead of a full blown window - much quicker to load and prettier to look at.
+ icon!
+ working "next" support for all edittext boxes in the configuration panel

If anyone is interested, I've made a few adjustments to the code to make it work a bit better for me. Basically I needed it to be a bit more resilient.. it'll wait 15 seconds until attempting to login (allowing time for the wireless to come up), then re-try every 5 minutes if it can't login, which is useful if you're working in a corporate environment & a proxy needs to get set in Windows. Just extract the file & replace index.html in this folder...

Can I ask is this a 32bit gadget? I'm running 64bit and I've tried numerous times to install it without success. It goes through the motions asking about install etc but then it just disappears without actually installing :bawl:

Scratch the question, got it sorted, had to install restart, uninstall restart then install again and now it works fine  :thumb:

That sounds like the organisation of the wedding photos, you put the best man in, the bridesmaid out (which nearly happened when she threw her bouquet up in the air )...

OK new version of the Windows 7 Gadget is attached to this post :)

  • Now uses the most up to date data available from the Radius servers
  • No longer uses your customer portal password (only needs your username and your api key, both can be found in your rss feed url)
  • Now has the option to change the text above the bars to display the remaining balance of your allowance
  • Pasting in your rss feed url into the Username or API Key configuration field will automatically populate those fields (once they lose focus, click in one of the other boxes)
  • Checks initially when loaded, then checks if it needs a load 15 seconds later (for slow wireless connect - endpoint101)
  • Refreshing manually will reset the timing for the next check (or reschedule it if the timing was lost due to hibernation/suspend)
  • Will only check the servers for new data if the current data is more than an hour old (limits of the radius data, would rather not hit the idnet servers too often if there won't be any new data)
  • Month Progress bar no longer one day ahead of itself.

Big thanks for both this gadget and the android widget go to Martin :)

Slight update (fixing for when no values are available (no usage data available).

Here are some changes that I've made so that it has a timeout & retry mechanism.. I need it for trouble with switching between my corporate proxy & home network, without it the widget doesn't ever time out on the Ajax call & then won't try again.

Not having any luck getting this to work. It thinks my username may be invalid and key may be invalid.

My username consists of 6 letters followed by @uk.idnet.dsl4 and I assume the key field is for the password. I've already tried the gadget from Google sites and the attachement from your post above.

Both the Windows gadget and Android widget use the API Key, not your customer portal password. Your API Key can be found in the RSS feed URL that you can get from the customer portal.

1. Log in to the Customer Portal (go to idnet.net and click "Customer Login" in the top right)
2. Click on "Bandwidth Usage" on the left hand side of the portal, under "Broadband"
3. Click on "Bandwidth Updates via RSS"

Windows Gadget
4. Right click on the "Subscribe" link and copy the URL.
5. Paste the URL into either the Username or the Key field in the Windows Gadget and move to another field, the correct values should be extracted from the URL automagically.

Android Gadget (with steps 1-3 above done using the Android Web Browser)
4. Long click on the "Subscribe" link and copy the URL
5. Add the widget to your homescreen, the Username and Key fields will be populated from the URL in the clipboard automagically.

Nice tool that.

Now if only i could find a 'routerstats lite' style gadget too i'd be sorted :)

What's your router? If it's a 2700HGV v6 I might get bored and make one :)

gyruss

Netgear 834g v5  is the one i've got.

Other routers i've got are linksys adsl 2+ modem/routers.
