My hubby got this Security Tool virus on his Win7 laptop.

He couldn't explain how he got it but I had a hellava time getting rid of it.

I ran malwarebites which found it but it just came back even after disabling system restore where viruses can still lurk.

This is just one link on how to remove it but it took a few goes before I got the laptop completely clean.

I'm just cleaning my fiancee laptop. She had the security suite malware installed aswell..

She had windows defender and avg installed and it still got through.. its take me 5 hrs to remove all the infected files etc.. 3 malwarebites scans and an install of avast its finally clean..

The worst part about this malware is that it stops all other AV & anti malware programs from running.

I had to boot into safe mode, run hijackthis to disable the auto run stuff then run avast & malwarebites.

I had a friends laptop the the other day, malwarebytes found 1131 infected files, during the 4hr scan.

I gunna give my fiancee a lesson on security later.. probly a waste of time though as it'll be infected again within the next few months.

And she wonders why I never let her use my computers  ;D

More to the point, Paul, just what sites is she visiting?  :o

I think your fiancee is using the same sites as my hubby  ;D.  I would like to know how it got there as well.

She was looking up on information about her medical condition when it happened.

Probly some ads running on a site with cross site scripting vuln's being exploited.

Lona

Would you believe my Hubby was looking up how to clean false teeth. ;D

I guess this malware attack is quite good at fooling people into thinking its real..

All I know is that it might of been quicker to reformat!  ;D
