i have taken Avast to my heart, as recommended, happy with it with one small exception. The American voice telling me that an update has taken place is rather obtrusive. Is there any way of tuning this transatlantic voice off please?

Yes.
Settings,   Sounds and untick " enable Avast sounds",  that should do it :fingers:

Broadback

Thanks Talos, done that, time will tell if it works, I guess it will! :fingers:

Should do, I think its just a sound file so in theory you could replace it.

Rik

Or unplug your speakers. ;D :out:

In the newer version of Avast, open the user interface and set "Silent/Gaming Mode" to ON.

Err, not really . Silent Gaming mode is to prevent popups and sounds spoiling a full screen app like a game. You need to open "SETTINGS > SOUNDS and turn off "Voice Overs" ( the 'orrible yank ),  further sound notification choices are also available.

Broadback

I've just received an update message, no horrible Yank voice, in fact no sound at all, so that is great, thanks again.

Err. Interesting. Your screengrab shows voiceovers as being selected, just as mine shows. However, I have not heard a peep from Avast for several weeks no matter whether I am in full screen mode or not, ever since I set silence mode to ON.

Strange that two installations react differently.
