Phoneline problems

Hi

I have a new build house where I am having some problems with miro filters.

The house has an external NTE box, so no test socket.

I have had to replace 3 micro filters in 1 month where the router suddenly stopped connecting.
My latest micro filter has now also stopped and although I can connect to broadband I am recieving lots of modem noise on the phone.

The house builder assures me they have tested the internal wiring and this is correct, however they have suggested that it is either the microfilter or router that has been wired backwards (I find it difficult to believe this with multiple micro filters).

Before I call out BT and have an open reach engineer only test to the NTE box and then charge me, is there anything someone can suggest that may be a problem in the internal wiring ?

I am fairly technical and can wire a socket, however I dont want to rewire the house myself when i have paid for this already.

Unbraded secondary faceplates.
(The NTE master is one of these new ones outside)

All you can do is go to the external connector:

Unfortunately, for this sort of fault, it's not really practical. It's rare, though not unheard of, for filters to fail. What brands have you tried?

How do you dial the test line number when the external NTE disconnects all the internal wiring ?
(I thought the external NTE doesnt have a test socket for a regular phone)

As for the filters I am not sure about the brands, 1 from a previous sky connection and a couple provided from various routers (netgear, dlink) but all diffrent.

So did I, but the BT site suggests it has.

HERE is some info on the external NTE box.

There appears to be no test socket as we know it. There is a connecting plug to disconnect pins 2, 3 & 5. It looks like a test plug is required to replace the connecting plug, providing independent test access to the exchange and user premises.

Notice also on the user side of the bridge plug there a filter on pin 5 to suppress bell wire noise.

Will come back if I can get more info.
